Most of the equipment required for a course can be rented and some is provided. If you are already a group of four or more we can arrange a special course, especially in May and June. Intermediate, rescue, and mountaineering courses can also be organized. This course introduces the beginner to the basics of rock climbing. At the end of the course participants will be able to set up their own short climbs. Basic knots, rappelling and safety systems will be covered. This is a basic course for those that have only climbed indoors before, and will give a foundation for future skills. This course covers all aspects of traveling on snow and ice. Safety techniques, including self arrest and crevasse rescue are covered, as well as the placement of snow and ice anchors. Add a third day and use your new skills under the guidance of your instructor to ascend the classic North Glacier route on Mt. Athabasca reaching 11,452' at the Columbia Icefields. covering: mountain snowpack, terrain, trip preparation, avalanche formation,
and self rescue. This course includes Avalanche safety training for
recreation as recommended by the Canadian Avalanche Centre.
The Course Cost includes an Avalanche Awareness Handbook, an "Avaluator

Ski Touring is the way to explore the mountains in the winter. Numerous
day tours and overnight tours are available. We can organize all the
